Music Lessons

Mary Alice McCann

I love sharing my passion for music-making with others. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player wishing to brush up on your skills, I can help you develop a more in-depth experience with your instrument. I work with students of all ages. I emphasize developing proper technique, achieving efficient practice, and paying attention to details in the music.

How I Teach (temporarily online only)

I offer one-hour lessons via Zoom at agreed-upon times. In addition to lesson time, I provide digital resources for print-out and listening by the student, as well as succinct summaries of important lesson points and what to practice. Students are expected to practice 3 or more times between lessons.

Testimonials

“I’ve been taking Mary Alice’s classes for a couple of months now and my singing has improved a lot including intonation, rhythm, and tone. Mary Alice is very patient and caring, she is the best music teacher I have ever worked with. All the homework is fun and takes my interests into account. When Mary Alice found out I play ukulele, she incorporated it into our lessons so that I could accompany my singing. Even though the classes are remote, Mary Alice finds a way to make them interesting and productive.” – Sammy | Student

“We’ve been lucky to have Mary Alice work with our 13 year old daughter for the past 6 months. Mary Alice chooses songs that my daughter loves and is eager to master. Subjects that can be dry become alive and engaging when taught in this context. Mary Alice has an amazing rapport with kids of all ages. Mary Alice makes musical education so fun that my daughter puts a lot of work into her lessons because she wants to, not because I make her. We couldn’t dream of a better teacher.” – Helen | Parent
